There’s mixed speculations on where Apple’s iPad is going directionally; will it experience a short fad or will it destroy the netbook concept and dominate in the tablet market? Personally I think the latter. Just as with the iPhone we now have dozens, hundreds of competing smartphone devices but what does everyone have?

My predictions are that within the next few months there’ll be at least one or two rumours circulating over new tablet devices from other manufacturers. The challenge will be to compete against Apple who have already set costs at around $600 for a minimum spec device.

The absence of Flash Player, a camera and multi-tasking seems rather questionable. Hence an iPad 2 could be around within a year of its release to the delight of Apple’s gold pot.
