Steady paced into 2012

Here in England as we enter the year of the London Olympics; it’s been a momentous year for current affairs both at home and abroad. On a personal level there have been numerous milestones reached including graduation, moving out and starting a new job in the glorious South East.

My final year mobile app project, Culturebook, looks set to see future development in the coming months following strong interest by the public in the London-based exhibitions including Made in Brunel and New Designers 2011. It also went onto receive an award from Cyber-Duck Digital Agency.

Speaking of mobile – it was a fast-paced year for mobile with the recent release of Ice Cream Sandwich for Google’s Android and iOS 5 for iPhone /iPad. I’m becoming increasingly impatient however with Google who have yet to release a Nexus tablet.

Looking forward to the year ahead it’s set to be an incredibly busy next few months working on a variety of multi-platform web/mobile development projects with a lot of learning along the way.

Another year has passed and it’s time to look to what 2011 has in store.

Graduation looms on a personal level so a challenging time ahead but one of some enjoyment hopefully. My on going project has led me to take a greater interest in museums and art galleries. Having visited a quite a few in the past few months I’m now beginning to gather quite a knowledge of how they’ve transformed their visual presentation styles.

Understanding our Cultural Heritage is essential to enable us to move forward and shape the future. By visiting a museum, a gallery or an arts centre we are learning and engaging with our past and possibly our future. How our Cultural Heritage is exhibited and how we interact with it forms a fundamental collection of indications to how each of us interpret our past and current figures of culture.

Moving forward to 2011 I’ll be exploring ways that different combinations of exhibits can significantly change our interpretations of history. Furthermore I’m curious to explore ways of customising the museum experience through self-curation of exhibits from a global pool of historic collections.

It’s been a while since my last post here due to a heavy work load now I’m in the final year of my University degree. During the coming months I’ll be working on a major project incorporating mobile application development for Android. This is the first time I’ve touched on a major programming project since my days of VB 6 creating a cross-roads traffic lights simulation in 2005.

The area of focus in my upcoming mobile phone application will be around museum exhibition and digitisation of museum collections. The specific details of the application will remain under close wraps throughout development so all I can say is look forward to something rather interesting!

An appeal to any of my readers would be to let me know what your thoughts are on museums good and bad. Is there any technology you think helps enhance your experience there or do you prefer a totally analogue experience at museums with no new technology what so ever?

It’s June 1st 2010, I’ve turned 23 and Zizz Fusion has now launched out of beta phase. There’s already been quite a lot of content added to the site over the past 6 months. Thanks to WPTouch plug-in; all the site’s articles are now accessible on mobile devices.
